Running Start

Summit View High School juniors and seniors have the opportunity to participate in Running Start.  Running Start is a program in which high school juniors and seniors take college level classes (numbered 101 and above) at Clark Community College to fulfill high school requirements.  These classes will enable a student to earn both college and high school credits simultaneously.

Eligibility

Summit View students are eligible to participate in the Running Start program at Clark College if they have a minimum of 11 credits and if they have qualifying scores on the reading and writing and/or math Compass tests.

See the Running Start website to find out when you can test to get into the Running Start Program.   A sample Compass test is available online. http://www.clark.edu/academics/programs/running_start/index.php

Tips

The links at the left describe procedures, policies, and tips for successful participation in the program.

Running Start information nights are offered in January at Clark College for anyone interested in participating. After a student passes the Compass test, he/she and a parent/guardian will need to attend a mandatory orientation at Clark College before forecasting for classes.
