In an October 22 dual ceremony, River HomeLink was recognized by State Superintendent Terry Bergeson as a 2008 Washington State School of Distinction. River HomeLink principal Mark Clements attended a ceremony at Garfield High School in Seattle, where he received a trophy and a "School of Distinction" banner on behalf of the school. At the same time several River HomeLink teachers, parents and students attended a local award ceremony at ESD 112, where River HomeLink was recognized and honored for the School of Distinction award.
River HomeLink is one of just 98 schools to receive the school of distinction award, out of over 2,000 schools in Washington. Also, River HomeLink is one of just 7 alternative schools to have garnered School of Distinction recognition. The School of Distinction award is based on continual improvement in WASL scores over the span of the past 6 years.
Congratulations to all River HomeLink students, parents and staff. The School of Distinction Award is a testament to the effectiveness of the River HomeLink model, where staff and parents partner to provide quality education to our students.
