Media Center
A message to students from our Media Specialist,
Irma Edgerly:
Welcome
to MGP Library. I am Irma Edgerly, your media specialist, here to help
you learn about the library and enjoy reading. As a child, I loved
reading and remember checking out books from the book mobile as it drove
through our neighborhood. I also remember spending hours at the public
library. I haven’t been a
teacher-librarian for very long, but I have been a classroom teacher for
about sixteen years. I have also worked as a school counselor for six
years. My goal at MGP is to encourage each student to try new books and
new authors and to enjoy reading as much as I do.
Becky Blick is our media center assistant. Becky
works tirelessly, checking out books to students and teachers and keeping
the media center in tip-top shape. The media center runs smoothly thanks
to her and the media assistants (fourth graders) that she trains each year.
Our media center, which is located in the center of
the school, houses a collection of about 12,000 books and some electronic
resources. The Internet, which provides a connection to the world of
information outside our school walls, can be accessed in the media center
and every classroom.
