My name is Jeremy Gallagher and I teach band, choir and general music at Laurin Middle School. I grew up in Kelso, Washington where I played trumpet in Kelso High School’s concert, jazz, marching and pep bands. While in high school, I also participated in the Southwest Washington Youth Philharmonic. After high school, I went to Boise State University as a music education major and spent the next two years performing in the school’s “Blue Thunder Marching Band” and Wind Symphony.
After my second year of college, I transferred to Portland State University and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in music. While in Portland, I met my wife, Sara, and got married in 2004. After completing a year of student teaching at David Douglas High School in Portland, I got a job teaching 6-12 grade band in Toppenish, WA (near Yakima, WA). My wife and I lived in Yakima for the next two years. Feeling that we were too far away from our families and friends, we decided to move back to the Portland/Vancouver area in the summer of 2007. I soon became the new band director at Laurin and currently live in Vancouver, WA.
