East Fork of the Lewis River - September 30, 2005

As part of their science studies, the 7th grade students of Jr. CAM conduct water quality tests on the East Fork of the Lewis River at Lewisville Park. The site is a short distance north of our school in Battle Ground, WA. The students, assisted by trained community volunteers recruited by the Water Resources Education Center, conduct a number of physical, chemical, and biological tests. Biological assessments are made based upon the Pollution Tolerance Index (PTI), OWEB Level II (family-level) assessment of water quality, and FFG (Functional Feeding Groups) & River Continuum analysis.

A summary of the water quality tests and the results of this year's macroinvertebrate counts are listed below:
