Pedestrian Monitor Program Guidelines and Information
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to the Pedestrian Monitor Program. A “Pedestrian Monitor” is an adult hired by the district to walk students to and from school. Students participating in the program are referred to as “walkers”. If you choose to have your child participate, your child will meet the Pedestrian Monitor at one of the designated meeting locations (see walking map). Please indicate your address and meeting point on the attached permission form; this will assist the monitor in keeping track of which students should be walking to and from what points.
Things to Remember:
Be at the meeting point 5 minutes prior to approximate scheduled meeting time (indicated on the back)
Pedestrian monitors will be unable to wait for students not at the meeting point at the scheduled time
PM walkers meet outside the office after school and leave campus by approximately 3:35 pm
There are 2 pedestrian monitors separated into 2 groups (see map)
Please talk with your child about safety and being a cooperative citizen as they walk to and from school
Please make a note of any special instructions on the attached permission form
If no one is there to meet a walker at their designated drop-off point, that walker will return to the school with the monitor, to await parent/guardian pick-up
All communication with the pedestrian monitors will be facilitated through the primary school office
Special Occasions:
Notify the office in writing when there are changes in normal routines (i.e. pick up procedures, etc)
Other students walking with the monitor need to have their parent’s written permission cleared through the office prior to school dismissal
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Daybreak Primary office at 885-6950 or the Transportation Office at 885-6577.
