Chief Umtuch Middle School's Linda Allen is choice
for district HR post; Cresap tapped for principal
Superintendent Shonny Bria will ask the School Board on June 18 to approve the appointment of Linda Allen, principal at Chief Umtuch Middle School, as the district's director of human resources and Dave Cresap, assistant principal at Chief Umtuch, as the next principal at the downtown Battle Ground school. The last of this school year's three printed reports to Battle Ground School District residents was inserted in The Reflector of June 2. It included a Q&A with new School Board President Steve Pagel, a story about the district's new Website that was created at no charge to the district by WSU-Vancouver students, a story about the district's program for highly capable students, "One Moment in Time" recollections by principals throughout the distirct, and more. Work near Lewisville Park slows Hwy. 503 traffic
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is making improvements to state Highway 503 about two miles north of Battle Ground, in the vicinity of Lewisville Park and beyond. The contractor is not allowed to close lanes from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., or between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Other times, there could be delays of as long as 10 minutes, we are told. School Board will ask the BPA to build any new
high-voltage tranmission lines away from schools
The Battle Ground Public Schools Board of Directors agreed April 24 to send a letter to the Bonneville Power Administration requesting that the federal agency pick a route away from schools if it does decide to build a new 500 kilovolt transmission line through Clark County. Click here.

Centennial videos still on sale at BGHS
There are still copies of the 30-minute version of the Battle Ground Public Schools Centennial video on sale for $20 in the Battle Ground High School ASB Office. (The version shown at the Jan. 9 community celebration was about 15 minutes.) The video, featuring excerpts from interviews with several former students of varying ages, was done by Jason Foster, video instructor at BGHS. Prooceeds will benefit the video production program at the high school.

The district has started using an automated phone system to notify parents of school closures, late starts, absences, as well of school events and upcoming events that our families may need to know. Absence and attendance calling is not available at all sites at this time, please verify availability with your site. If you are not receiving phone calls please make sure your phone contact information is up to date with your schools.
